Come join our 2025 Chili Cook-Off Event!

This event will require pre-registration to enter. Once the event is sold out there will be no more entries allowed. We will not be allowing any day of entries.

Date: Sunday - February 16th, 2025

CHILI TEAM ENTRY: $15.00 per team entry (up to 3 team members per entry)

VOTING & EVENT IS FREE FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC

Public Judging Hours: 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Winner will be announced at: 4:25pm (ish).

Winning Teams:

First Place Winners (Per Category): Medal, (2) 4-Pack of Beer, $50 Gift Card to Cactus Land Brewing Co. (in total to split) TWO CLBC Merch Tees, & TWO NEW TIN TACKERS

Second Place Winners (Per Category): Medal, (2) 4-Pack of Beer, NEW TICKER

Third Place Winners (Per Category) : Medal, (1) 4-Pack of Beer, NEW TICKER

Fan Favorite Winner: Unique Trophy and Apron & (1) 4-Pack of Beer

Entry cost is to secure your spot and each participant will receive one draft beer (must be 21+).

NO refunds, NO transfer of tickets, NO changes in entry details.

Check Out: You must complete the entry form at check-out. This will set up all organization for our voting database.

JUDGING ONE: Top “Fan Favorites” per both category. “Fan Favorites” is defined as the largest number of votes for both categories. The winner is chosen by having the largest number of (tickets) votes. Patrons will receive tickets for voting. There will be a voting location with a voting box for each team. Voting Boxes will be covered to ensure patrons are voting fairly. This round of judging will take place between 1 -4:00pm.

JUDGING TWO: Judges will select who the Top winner is for each category. Judging will take place at 1:30PM.

Judges will vote on chili based on the following considerations:

* Taste

* Texture

* Color

* Aroma

* Aftertaste

At 1:00pm please bring 16oz of your submission chili to Side Bar (Located to the left of the main taproom). We will bring you a cup and lid at arrival to submit your product in. Judges will judge submission shortly after all submissions are turned in. This round of judging will be completed while “Fan Favorite” judging is taking place.

Chili Cook-Off Rules

1.       Chili must be made from scratch; cooking begins with raw meats, vegetables, and spices. Beans or no beans (based of category entered) and pre-made chili mixes are approved ingredients for this chili competition.

2.      We recommend that ALL Cooking to be made off site. If you would like to cook your chili on site. Gates open at 10:00am. Please bring your chili product precooked under the specific category you entered. No stoves or cooking equipment will be provided. Contestants are responsible for supplying all of their own cooking utensils, tables, stove, crockpot, etc.

3.       Steamers and or gas fired food warmers are welcomed. We do not have enough outlets for all participants to be connected to power. We recommend to bring a full crockpot (minimum 4-5 quarts) of product per entry, more is always welcomed. In addition, one pint (16 ounces) of chili is required to submit for final judging . Please write at the bottom of your cup your TEAM name and if there are beans or no beans in your product. Example: “The Hot Peppers - No Beans.”

4.       If your ingredients contain MSG or peanut oil, please post a warning sign. Texas Cottage Law signs must be posted at each table. Please use the following link: https://texascottagefoodlaw.com/ for reference. We will be email each team a document to print out to place on the top of each table, to stay in correspondence with Texas Cottage Law.

5.       Please bring a folding table, chairs and serving utensils. Serving space is 10’ X 10’. Please bring a tent with weights.

6.       Judges will vote on chili based on the following considerations: Taste, Texture, Color, Aroma, and Aftertaste.

7.       Samples will be given to patrons for Judging Hours from 1:00 - 4:00 PM. Samples will be 2oz sample cups for patrons to sample and vote on your product. Patrons will be given Tickets to use to vote for each category. Cactus Land will be providing Sample Cups, Small Sample Spoons, and Crackers for the event.

8.       Contestants are encouraged to decorate booths/tables.

Rules and Regulations:

  • Load in time starts at: 10:00 AM (Gates will not open any earlier).

  • Serving space is 10’X10’. Please bring a tent with weights.

  • I will being at minimum 4-5 quarts of entry product and one 16oz pint cup of entry chili product for judging.

  • This event is not a sanctioned chili cook-off. This is a fun family event only.

  • Cactus Land is open to the GP from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.

  • Spot location is based time of arrival located at the Cabin Side.

  • You must bring the product that you registered in.

  • Entries are ONLY available on our webpage.

  • NO outside alcohol is allowed on premise, if we spot you or your group with an ice chest of alcohol you will be asked to leave the premise. Water and sodas are allowed.

  • Please make sure your area is tidy and cleaned up after the conclusion of the event.

  • Bringing folding chairs is always welcome, as we do tend to run out of seating quickly.

  • Intolerable behavior will not be allowed at our event, we will ask you to leave the premise if we recognize any un-sportsman like conduct.

  • We will not allow any bartering with the GP for votes.

  • Cactus Land Brewing Co. does not have any affect on the outcome of the event. We are here to create a fun community event not matter who wins.

  • Cactus Land is not responsible for any accident, injury or damages.
