Chad Boyd
Singer-songwriter Chad Boyd might be about as close to the outsider's imagined archetype of a Texan as you can get without riding a horse directly up to the bar. An Abilene-born Marine Corps veteran who's worked oil fields and ranches, bounced at beer joints and - most relevantly here - traveled the state with his guitar and a deep well of hard-eyed but big-hearted country-folk songs, Boyd has spent nearly 25 years learning and honing his craft as a musical storyteller. Usually hitting the stage after a hard day's work that'd send most men stumbling to their recliners, Chad Boyd has penned dozens of tales of dreamers, brawlers, outlaws, lovers and soldiers and wanderers and blue-collar strivers that reflect the life he's lived and the lives he's seen along the way. He's proud and happy to pull up a stool or just stand tall in his work boots and sing songs that'll always reward a close listen. Currently making his home in the Hill Country after memorable stints (and countless gigs) in both the Panhandle and the Brazos Valley, Boyd remains a sought-after friend and collaborator of musicians all over the Lone Star State, and a still-prolific well of edgy, meaningful, and profoundly personal original music.
